9 types of Drinkers

RESEARCHERS have identified nine specific types of alcohol-fuelled personalities.
British health researchers found those who regularly consumed twice the daily guideline or more than the weekly recommendation ranged from bored drinkers to depressives who often drank at home alone.
British health chiefs hope the classifications will allow them to challenge heavy drinkers more effectively and encourage them to cut down.
The nine types are:
* Bored drinkers not drinking for physiological effect, but to pass the time;
* Hedonistic drinkers proud of their drinking behaviour and openly encouraging others to drink;
* Macho drinkers longstanding relationship with alcohol, believing themselves to be in control of their drinking;
* De-stress drinkers using alcohol to moderate and control emotions and situations;
* Conformist drinkers alcohol enhances their personality to reveal their true self;
* Depressed drinkers crave the comfort and security of alcohol, often consume it alone;
* Re-bonding drinkers drink to stay in touch with social circle;
* Community drinkers driven by need to belong and drink in groups; and,
* Border dependents regard pub as a home from home.
A British Department of Health spokesman said: "The target group will be a tough one to crack. There are many very positive associations with alcohol among the general public and even more so among those drinking at increasing-risk and higher-risk levels.
"For these people, alcohol is embedded in their identity and lifestyle.
"So much so that challenging this behaviour results in high levels of defensiveness, rejection or even outright denial."

I know that I'm the following;
* De-stress drinkers using alcohol to moderate and control emotions and situations;
* Depressed drinkers crave the comfort and security of alcohol, often consume it alone;
But seriously, what research does this take? I could have told anyone people drink for different reasons, most of which are listed here.
Personally I think this is a ridiculous experiment, and probably wasted a lot of taxpayers money so people could answer a survey on their drinking habits. There isn't much of a way that this could be formally conducted, as everyone is affected by emotions differently, and also by the effects of alcohol.
No duh, Sherlock Holmes, we use it to give us a false sense of hapiness, albeit a deluded one, and it helps to numb the pain of the troubles we face day in and out. Why else to people drink? They say "I wanna get messy" etc, but WHY?!
Because we all want a time where we can relax and forget about the world.
Your thoughts?

Sorry also, people have a positive outlook on alcohol because it numbs the pain, for you to stop problem drinkers you're going to have to present them with something else equally effective in combating their emotions.
