Big Day Out 2009
Since Music Festival season is FAST approaching I thought it might be a good time for some Big Day Out speculation.
Here's what I know of who has been confirmed thus far;
Neil Young
My Morning Jacket
The Ting Tings
The Raconteurs
TV on the Radio
Others that are strongly rumoured;
the prodigy
arctic monkeys
the presets
klaxons
You Am I
Other Strongish Rumours;
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
Primal Scream
Simian Mobile Disco
The Vines
The Verve
Bloc Party
Combichrist
Brian Jonestown Massacre
Pendulum
Hot Chip
The Living End
Birds of Tokyo
Karnivool
Pearl Jam
If majority of those bands are there I'd be quite impressed.
Neil Young will be amazing, that guy has such a ballsy voice, but it's so different... I love it.
The Ting Tings will be killer, i'll totally be dancing non-stop haha
As for the rumoured bands, I would LOVE to see The Prodigy, The Presets, The Verve, Bloc Party, Pendulum (I love me some D'n'B), The Living End, and Pearl Jam... But I've got high doubts for majority of them, except the Presets. It wouldn't surprise me if they played!
I'd also love to see both Birds of Tokyo and Karnivool in the same day aswell, but I think it'll be one or the other instead of both. I have a feeling Mammal will make another Melbourne appearance, if not nationwide, and I'm praying The Butterfly Effect make a return for BDO 2009. All those bnds are mind-blowing live. I totally got caught in the mosh at Kanrivool by myself at this yars BDO and it nucking futs. I loved every second of it.
Anyone in particuar you guys wanna see there?
Actually I didn't check he venues/dates, but I'm sure they're released. The only reason I don't wanna check is because I REALLY don't want the Melbourne BDO to be held at Flemington Race Course like this year, otherwise my poor little lungs may be completely filled with dust again.
Maybe go back to the showgrounds? Just maybe.
The first official announcement is September 30, so we'll see what predicitions were right.

Re: Big Day Out 2009
The BDO site isnt updated for 2009 yet.
Not even the dates or venues.
Last year at flemington really sucked, stupid dust.
It was 29479832 x better the year I went and it was at the showgrounds.
& we need more of us to go instead of just three.
It really sucked when I had to go off on my own to see Sarah Blasko, I had all these creepy/completely smashed people talking to me.
Yay, BDO. lol.

shattered incubus didn't play it last year. they woulda been so much better than RATM... Stupid soundwave.

Re: Big Day Out 2009
Two more confirmations;
The Raconteurs
TV on the Radio
I'm keeping a close eye on it, although if it's at Flemington again, I'll seriously reconsider going. It's a terrible venue for a music festival, I'm sure i swallowed my body weight in dust and because everything was so open, the sound was distorted and sounded shite.
I'm sure RATM were fucking awesome if you were 5 rows back from the stage, but otherwise they incredibly mediocre.

if they played bdo i would have spent all day waiting in front of the stage they were playing just so i didn't get shite sound and distortion.

Re: Big Day Out 2009
Odds of BDO performers from fasterlourder.com.au
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds: Odds: 20-1. UPDATE! Looks like there’ll be no BDO for Nick Cave, as he’s been confirmed as the first headliner for the inaugural All Tomorrow’s Parties festival.
Primal Scream: Odds: 25-1.
Weezer: Odds: 60-1.
Simian Mobile Disco: Odds: 10-1.
The Vines: Odds: 5-1.
The Verve: Odds: 80-1.
Scars On Broadway: Odds: 10-1. UPDATE! The odds looked very good indeed, but no cigar. Instead, Scars On Broadway are heading out here for Soundwave 2009.
Bloc Party: 40-1. UPDATE! No deal here either – Bloc Party have confirmed headline shows for November, and we doubt they’ll be back so soon after.
The Brian Jonestown Massacre: Odds: 25-1.
Foo Fighters: Odds: 50-1.
Pendulum: Odds: 15-1.
Neil Young: 10-1. UPDATE! Success! Neil Young is the first confirmed headliner for Big Day Out 2009. We’re excited…
Santogold: Odds: 50-1. UPDATE!: Well, we were right about the January part. Turns out Santogold will play a New Zealand festival this New Years, so her Australian debut may be a little earlier than we expected.
AC/DC: Odds: 100-1.
